This year’s honoree is very well known in the local cancer community – but has especially made a huge impact on BCEA in recent years by generously supporting critical cancer screening and education outreach efforts to underserved communities. We simply could not have reached the numbers we did without the support of the Randy Shaver Cancer Research and Community Fund.
We know that people in medically underserved communities are less likely to have recommended cancer screening tests and are more likely to be diagnosed with late-stage cancer. Funding from grants such as those provided by the Randy Shaver Cancer Research and Community Fund have helped improve the lives of Minnesotans through collaborative partnerships with trusted organizations serving Minnesota’s African American, Native American, Hispanic and Asian Pacific Islander communities.
