Ask the Experts: Long-Term Effects of Radiation Therapy & Life After Treatment
Moderated by Mark Migliori, MD
Radiation therapy has long been a life-saving part of breast cancer treatment, and advances in precision and accuracy continue to expand its benefits. But like all cancer treatments, it carries risks — some of which may not become apparent until years after treatment ends.
A multidisciplinary panel of experts in radiation oncology, rehabilitation, and lymphedema care outline the long-term effects of radiation therapy, alongside the broader picture of recovery: physical function, emotional well-being, and practical strategies for thriving in survivorship. Grounded in clinical evidence and lived patient experience, the panelists will share what’s known — and what’s still being learned — about which patients may be at higher risk for long-term effects, and the resources and emerging techniques available to help manage them.
Panelists:
- An Church, MD
- Eleanor M. Walker, MD
- Renata Braudy, PhD, PT, OCS, CLT
- Ingrid Weddig, COTA/L, CLT
